HOW TO DEVELOP A THESIS STATEMENT

A thesis contains the arguments of the writer of a certain essay where he or she makes the arguments based on the main idea or the central message.A thesis statement tells the reader what to expect from the rest of the paper and how will interpret the significance of the subject matter under discussion.
A thesis statement is important because;
1)It is the central idea of your essay.
2)It provides your story with the structure it needs to stay focus on the topic and answer your audience’s questions.
3)It is an easy way to engage the reader in your argument about the subject at hand.
4)Keeps the reader focused on your argument.

Steps in writing a thesis 

Collect facts
Look out for possible relationships between known facts.You should choose a thesis that explores an aspect of your topic that is important to you.
Patterns
Once you have read the story  look for patterns of questions  or ideas that interest you from the facts that you have gathered,you will develop your argument and some conclusions.
Ideas
Once you have some general points to focus on,narrow down your possible ideas and answer the questions that they suggest.
Write it down
Narrow down the points that you have gathered from reading the book.Make a definable and arguably claim in the thesis.Be clear and specific about your claims and arguments about the subject matter  under discussion.
1) If  the paper assignment asks you to answer a specific question, turn the question into an assertion and give reasons for your opinion.
2)Then write a sentence that summarizes the main idea of the argument you plan to write.
3)Finally state down your arguments with the thought of  the things that might be said about it.
State the evidence 
You have to provide evidence to prove your thesis statement.This includes articles, newspapers ,journals.Use the evidence to address an opposing point of view and  your reader should believe it is credible as well.Do not go out off  topic make sure the examples you select from your available evidence address your thesis.
